Rain Brings End to Rock Cats' Win

NEW BRITAIN, CT - Liam Hendriks continued to impress with another strong outing and Deibsinson Romero crushed a three-run homer to lead the Rock Cats to a 7-3 victory over Binghamton in a rain-shortened game on Tuesday night.

The Rock Cats got on the board in the second when Mike Holliman drew a two-out walk and Mark Dolenc followed with a single to right to put runners on the corners. Brandon Moore then unleashed a wild pitch that scored Holliman for the 1-0 advantage. Holliman finished the night a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles.

Hendriks got plenty of support in the bottom of the fifth as the `Cats broke out for five runs. The inning was highlighted by Romero's three-run shot over the left field wall that put the Rock Cats ahead, 6-0. Yangervis Solarte also had an RBI single in the inning.

Steve Singleton added an RBI single in the seventh.

Binghamton's Joshua Satin crushed a three-run homer in the top of the eighth as the Mets finally broke through against Hendriks. Michael Tarsi entered the game with no outs in relief of Hendriks, but the inning was halted due to heavy rain.

Hendriks (4-2) struck out nine and scattered eight hits, with the home run allowed one of the few mistakes he made through the night.

Moore (3-3) finished with six runs - with only one earned run - on eight hits through 4 1/3 innings.

ALLSTATE PLAYER OF THE GAME: 3B Deibinson Romero delivered a three-run shot in the midst of a five-run fifth inning that gave the Rock Cats breathing room.
