Gongalsky Called up to AHL Rochester

Forward Igor Gongalsky has been called up to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

Gongalsky was signed by Gwinnett on December 15th and earned three points (one goal, two assists) in four games with the Gladiators. Gongalsky began the season with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League where he earned one point (one assist) in 13 AHL games. He has also recorded a -2 plus/minus rating with Portland. The Gladiators acquired his ECHL rights from the Utah Grizzlies in exchange for future considerations on October 13, 2011.

Gongalsky spent a majority of the 2010-11 season with the Pirates where he earned 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 54 games in the AHL. He also had three points (two goals, one assist) in seven games with Greenville last year.

The Kiev, Ukraine native began his professional career with Fresno in 2007-08 and earned 43 points (18 goals, 25 assists) in 63 games and had 12 points (six goals, six assists) in 28 games in 2008-09 before he was traded to Stockton.

Gongalsky had 31 points (14 goals, 17 assists) in 55 games with Stockton in the 2009-10 season and had 18 points (four goals, 14 assists) in 25 games in the 2008-09 season after he was acquired from Fresno. He also skated in four AHL games with San Antonio in 2008-09. The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres and the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
