Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Scott Pitt scored the game winning goal with 14 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Florida Everblades to a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Trenton Titans Thursday night at Germain Arena.
Trenton registered the game's first goal, as Ryan Hayes centered a feed in the crease to Chase Langeraap who batted the puck on the backhand past Blades goaltender Pat Nagle to give the Titans the 1-0 lead halfway through the first.
The Blades countered on the power play on a tic-tac-toe play that was finished off by Matt Beca's fifth of the season. The goal tied the game with just 15 seconds remaining in the period.
In the second, Trenton reclaimed the lead on Steve Silva's first goal of the season. Silva blasted a slapshot from the slot into the 'Blades net. The goal was initially waived off, but after further review was ruled a goal, giving the Titans a 2-1 lead.
The Titans held off the blades for a majority of the third period. However, Florida received a late power play opportunity. The Blades Rylan Galiardi slid a rink-wide pass to the circle which was one-timed into the net for the game's tying goal with 2:50 remaining in regulation, sending the game to overtime.
Florida received several quality scoring chances in the extra session, but Titans goaltender Dave Caruso continued to make clutch saves to keep the puck out of the net. Devos factored again in the game, as he won a faceoff in the offensive zone and fed the puck to Scott Pitt. Pitt from behind the net directed the puck off of the skate of Caruso, which deflected into the net for the game winning goal.
Nagle earns the win stopping 27 of 29 shots, while Caruso suffers the loss allowing three goals on 38 shots.
