
Goldeyes Sign Rookie Wright

WINNIPEG - Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the signing of rookie right-handed pitcher Eugene Wright.
Wright, 21, just completed his senior season at Cal Poly where he had a 4.44 ERA in 19 outings, including one start. In 26.1 innings, the product of Sandy, Oregon compiled 19 strikeouts and didn't allow a home run. As a junior with Cal Poly, he went 2-5 with a 7.35 ERA over 18 games and 60 innings. Prior to joining Cal Poly, he played two seasons at Cerro Coso College.
The Goldeyes now have 21 players on their roster, including 11 pitchers and 10 position players.
Winnipeg begins a three-game series tonight in Sioux City against the Explorers. Game time is 7 p.m. and all the action can be heard on Sports Radio 1290, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
