Pope, Laber Collect Weekly Awards

DURHAM, NC - The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has named Amarillo Sox INF Van Pope and Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks LHP Jake Laber as the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week.

In seven games, Pope hit .464 with three home runs and 10 RBIs. He scored 10 runs, collected 13 hits and stole four bases. The resident of Jackson, MS also had a slugging percentage of .893 and an OPS of 1.438. On the season, Pope is batting .367 with five home runs and 22 runs driven in. The batting average is good for fifth best in the American Association.

Laber collected two wins this past week, including a complete game effort against Gary SouthShore last Tuesday. In 15 2/3 innings pitched, he allowed two earned runs on 12 hits with five walks and 11 strikeouts. Currently, Laber is 5-1 with a 1.50 ERA in eight starts. The Fargo resident is second in the league in ERA, innings pitched (54.0) and tied for fifth in wins.
