Van Pope Named Player of the Week

AMARILLO, TX - The American Association today announced that Amarillo Sox third baseman Van Pope has been named as Pointstreak Batter of the Week for the week of June 13 to June 19.

Pope hit .464 with 10 RBI and three homeruns during the week. Additionally, he walked five times and stole four bases. Pope's highlight of the week was a June 14 performance where he went 3-4 with a homerun and four RBI. He hit three homerun in three games from June 14-16.

For the season, Pope is hitting .367, which is fifth in the American Assocation. He has hit five homeruns and 22 RBI. Additionally, he is in the top five in fielding percentage for third baseman.

Fargo-Moorehead pitcher Jake Laber was announced as the Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week.
