Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
A day of change in the Winnipeg Goldeyes clubhouse ended in thrilling fashion.
With the bases loaded, Vince Harrison smacked a single out to left field off former Goldeyes pitcher Casey Hodges to score Kevin West from third base and give Winnipeg (37-34) a 5-4 win over the Kansas City T-Bones (41-27) in the 10th inning before 6,184 joyous spectators Friday night at Canwest Park.
It's the first walk-off win for the Goldeyes this season.
Winnipeg tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning when Harrison scored from third base on an Aharon Eggleston ground ball.
Kansas City scored twice in each of the third and fourth innings to take a 4-0 lead, but Winnipeg battled back. The Goldeyes tallied three times in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the T-Bones lead to just one and set up the thrilling 10th-inning victory.
Corey Bass gets the win after pitching a brilliant 10th inning, during which he struck out three of the four Kansas City batters he faced.
Hodges take the loss for the T-Bones.
The middle game of the three-game series goes tomorrow night at Canwest Park. Game time is 6 p.m.
