
Goldeyes Add Infielder Brooks

Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today that the baseball club has signed infielder Patrick Brooks.
Brooks, 25, was with the Wichita Wingnuts of the American Association for the first half of the season. He hit .212 with Wichita in 19 games. He also had four doubles and six RBI.
Brooks was undrafted out of the University of Texas-Pan American in 2007. He spent the summer of 2007 with the Cubs in the Arizona Rookie League, where he hit .203 with eight RBI in 36 games. A product of Vallejo, Cali., Brooks played in eight games in 2008 with Windy City of the Frontier League. He had a .250 average with Windy City and played shortstop and first base. Last year he appeared in 59 games with Wichita, hitting .252 with two home runs and 11 RBI.
Winnipeg now has 22 players on its roster, evenly split between pitchers and position players.
The Goldeyes begin a 10-game home stand tonight with the first of three games against the league-leading Kansas City T-Bones. Great seats are available by visiting any Ticketmaster location, including the box office at Canwest Park, or by calling 780-3333.
