Flyers split series with Riverhawks

Schaumburg Flyers News Release

LOVES PARK, IL - The Rockford Riverhawks (31-37) used a three run second inning to sink the Flyers (26-43) at Road Ranger Stadium Thursday night in the finale.

Aaron Guinn came in for Schaumburg starter Todd Moser (2-7) and was spectacular. In his first game as a Flyer, the righty tossed 5.1 innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits while striking out three.

The Riverhawks jumped on top of Moser early with four runs in the first two innings. The lefty went just 1.2 frames in his shortest start of the season. Moser gave up four runs on five hits in the loss.

Kit Pellow cut into the Rockford lead, doubling in Ron Bourquin in the third. But the Riverhawks jumped right back in the fourth, when Jake Eigsti scored on a passed ball by catcher Richard Mercado.

Schaumburg added one more in the seventh on a Tom Fitzgerald single up the middle, but, once again, Rockford answered with a Jason James base hit in the bottom of the frame.

Riverhawks starter Mike Wood (2-5) beat the Flyers for the first time this season, allowing two runs on nine hits in seven strong innings.

The Flyers begin a weekend set with the Joliet Jackhammers at Silver Cross Field Friday night. Alain Quijano will take the hill for Schaumburg opposite Joliet's Bear Bay.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM. Join Alex Perlman on 1410 WRMN and flyersbaseball.com for all the action as the Flyers take on the Riverhawks. The Schaumburg Flyers Pregame Show gets rolling at 7 PM with the game to follow.
