Goaltender Mike Morrison Joins Grizzlies In Victoria

Victoria, British Columbia - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that goaltender Mike Morrison has joined the team from the AHL's Albany River Rats. Morrison arrived in Victoria today and will get the start Friday for Utah when they visit the Salmon Kings at 8:05 P.M.

The six-foot-three and 30 year-old goaltender was 9-10-3 with a 2.89 goals-against-average and a .899 save percentage this year with the ECHL's Florida Everblades and was 6-5-1 with a 3.30 goals-against-average and a .892 save percentage in Albany. He has played in the NHL with Edmonton, Ottawa and Phoenix and has an all-time record of 11-7-3 with a 3.28 goals-against-average and a .870 save percentage. Morrison went 10-4-2 with Edmonton in 2005-2006, a team that went on to lose to Carolina in the Stanley Cup Championship in seven games. He was a seventh-round selection of the Oilers in the 1998 NHL entry draft.

Morrison along with Simon Ferguson, currently with the AHL's Hershey Bears, were part of a trade that sent forward Shea Guthrie to Florida in December.
