Glasnow Strikes Season-High 12 in 2-0 Curve Loss

AKRON, Ohio - Top Pirates prospect Tyler Glasnow recorded a season-high 12 strikeouts on Sunday afternoon, but the Altoona Curve lost the series finale at Canal Park against the Akron RubberDucks, 2-0.

The Curve (54-48) lost three-of-four in the weekend road series against the RubberDucks (52-49).

Glasnow (Loss, 5-3) allowed two earned runs in six innings on just five hits and two walks. He has struck out at least seven batters in each of his six starts since being activated from the disabled list on June 29.

The RubberDucks scored the only runs of the game on a two-run homer by Alex Lavisky in the bottom of the fifth.

Akron starter Shawn Morimando (Win, 7-10) fired six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. Closer Jeff Johnson (Save, 17) stayed perfect in save opportunities this season.

Adam Frazier recorded his seventh consecutive two-hit game, extending his overall hitting streak to nine games.

Relievers John Kuchno and Jeremy Bleich each worked a scoreless inning for the Curve.

The Curve return home to open a series with the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Monday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field. Right-hander Chad Kuhl (8-4, 2.75) is on the mound for Altoona, countered by Richmond righty Joan Gregorio (1-1, 3.61).
