
Farewell to New Britain no swan song

Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Fightin Phils (54-46) graced the field of New Britain Stadium for the final time in 2015 and beyond. They would leave with a series loss as the New Britain Rock Cats (48-52) won 5-4 on Sunday afternoon. Joely Rodriguez made his first start for the Fightin Phils.
The Rock Cats scored three runs with two outs off Joely Rodriguez in the bottom of the third inning to take a 3-0 lead. Noel Cuevas hit a RBI single to score David Dahl and Jordan Patterson hit a two-run home run.
Reading cut the Rock Cats lead to 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning. Angelo Mora hit a RBI groundout off Matt Flemer that scored Brian Pointer and Kelly Dugan hit a RBI double off Flemer with two outs that scored Gustavo Pierre. Joely Rodriguez was pulled from the game in the inning for Brodie Greene who pinch hit for him.
Rodriguez allowed three runs off five hits and one walk in four innings with four strikeouts. Ethan Martin took over in the bottom of the fifth inning. Patterson struck again, this time off Martin with two outs as he hit a RBI double to score Cuevas and give the Rock Cats a 4-2 lead.
Brock Stassi brought the Fightins within one run in the top of the sixth inning as he hit his tenth home run of the season off Flemer that made the score 4-3. Flemer left the game after six innings. Martin tossed two innings in relief as he allowed one run off four hits. Edubray Ramos entered the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Rock Cats got a run off Ramos in the bottom of the eighth inning as Jordan Patterson scored on a base hit by Pat Valaika and a throwing error by Kelly Dugan to extend their lead to 5-3. Destin Hood hit a RBI single off Carlos Estevez in the top of the ninth inning to cut the Rock Cats lead to 5-4. Brock Stassi struck out to end the game.
Matt Flemer (5-7) took in the win for the Rock Cats. Joely Rodriguez (2-2) received the loss while Carlos Estevez earned his fifth save.
The Fightin Phils will begin a three-game home stand on Monday night against the Erie SeaWolves. First pitch is at 7:05 pm. Fans can listen to the game on CBS Sports Radio 1240 AM/98-5 FM and fightins.com beginning at 6:35 pm.
