Bowie Breaks out in Rout of Harrisburg

Seven runs allowed in the first two innings could not be overcome by the Harrisburg Senators in a 10-3 loss to the Bowie Baysox Sunday at Metro Bank Park. There were 4,589 in attendance as the Senators (50-52) dropped three of four to the Baysox.

In his first start with Harrisburg this season, Matt Purke struggled, allowing nine runs (six earned) on 10 hits in 3.1 innings. Dakota Bacus followed with an effective 3.2 innings in which he allowed a run on three hits while striking out five. Relievers Nick Lee and Colin Bates each threw a scoreless inning to finish Sunday's game. As a whole, the Senators pitching staff walked two and struck out 10.

After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first, Harrisburg responded with three in the bottom of the first on a two-run home run by Brian Goodwin and an RBI single by Jose Lozada. However, the Senators recorded just one hit for the remainder of the game against Bowie pitching. Goodwin, who also singled in the sixth inning, finished 2-for-3 in the game. No other Senator reached more than once.

The Senators will now embark on a seven-game road trip to New Hampshire and Portland. The first of three with New Hampshire will begin Monday night at 7:05 p.m. The pregame show will begin at 6:50 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
