
Gladiators win 7-4 over Pensacola

Scott Mifsud and Guillaume Desbiens each posted two goals to help the Gladiators past the Pesnacola Ice Pilots 7-4 on Tuesday Night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
Guillaume Desbiens netted his first professional goal to give the Gladiators a 1-0 lead. Parked in the slot, Desbiens ripped a one timer past Pensacola netminder Todd Ford 15:09 into the first period. Jeff Campbell and Ryan Fultz added the assists on the power play goal.
Scott Mifsud pushed the Gladiators lead to 2-0 beating Ford on a one-timer 8:51 into the second period. Derek Nesbitt picked up an assist on the goal flipping puck into the slot to Mifsud for the tally.
Desbiens second goal of the night gave the Gladiators a 3-0 lead midway through the second period. Desbiens deflected Danny Eberly's shot from the point past Ford for the power play goal. Brad Schell also picked up an assist on the goal at 10:48 of the second period.
Chris Durno extended his point scoring streak to 7 consecutive games with an assist setting up Pascal Pelletier in the slot at the 14:56 mark of the second period. Pelletier jammed the puck past Ford for the shorthanded tally.
Pensacola got on the board just 20 seconds after Pelletier's shorthanded tally with a power play goal off the stick of Luke Fulghum. Rod Aldoff and Corey Neilson picked up the assists on the goal.
The Ice Pilots cut the lead in half as Matt Turek beat Fields to the short side at less than a minute later. Neilson and Lindberg picked up the assists for the Ice Pilots on the tally.
Mifsud's second goal of the night proved to be the game winner as the rookie forward threw a bad angle shot from the left wing corner that found its way past Ford to give the Gladiators a 5-2 lead. Brad Schell and Steve Slaton picked up the assists on the goal at 5:21 of the third period.
Jeff Campbell extended the Gladiators lead to 6-2 with a power play goal at 7:19 of the third period. Eberly and Schell picked up the assists on the tally.
Eberly pushed the Gladiators lead to 7-2 with a seeing eye slap shot from the point that found its way through traffic and beat Ford for the tally at 12:15 of the final period. Scott Kelman picked up an assist on the goal.
Pensacola scored two late goals but it wasn't enough to get back into the game. Brendan Cook scored Pensacola's third tally of the night at the 16:37 mark of the third period. Eric Braff added the assists on the tally. Luke Fulghum rounded out the scoring with 58 seconds left in the third period with an unassisted tally.
Sean Fields made 21 saves for the Gladiators as the netminder improves to 6-0-0 on the season.
Gwinnett went 3-for-12 on the power play in the win to help the Gladiators improve to 6-1-1 on the season.
