Aces' Heisten Named In Glas Co ECHL Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Alaska Aces forward Barrett Heisten is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for November 7-13.

The 6-foot-1 and 195-pound Heisten scored eight points (2g-5a) and had a plus-minus rating of +7 in three games as the Aces went 2-1-0 at Idaho.

He began the week scoring two goals, including a shorthand goal and the game-winning goal, and adding an assist in the Aces 5-2 win on November 9. He had five assists on November 11, tying the ECHL season high and the Aces team record for both assists and points, as the Aces won 8-3.

The 25-year-old leads the Aces with seven goals, 14 points and five power-play points in 11 games and leads the ECHL in plus-minus rating at +8. Heisten played the last four seasons in the American Hockey League with Bridgeport, Utah and Hartford where he scored 80 points (35g-45a) in 256 games. Selected in the first round (20th overall) by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, he played 10 games in the NHL with the New York Rangers in 2001-02 and had two penalty minutes. He played one season with Seattle of the Western Hockey League and won a National Championship with the University of Maine in 1998-99.

On behalf of Barrett Heisten, a case of pucks will be donated to an Anchorage area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the ECHL.

In Glas Co has donated over 12,500 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities since it began sponsoring the award in 2000-01. In Glas Co also donated all of the limited-edition pucks that were used during the opening weekend and auctioned off for hurricane relief.
