DULUTH, GA -- In front of a raucous home opening crowd of over 5,000 Friday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center, the Gladiators throttled division rival Greenville 6-1.

Gwinnett defenseman, Corey Fienhage scored the first goal of his pro career early in the first period on a power play to put the Glads up 1-0. The Road Warriors answered roughly a minute-and-a-half later to draw even at one through 20 minutes.

Gwinnett jumped ahead for good in the second. Rookie forward Bryan Brutlag tallied his first pro marker blasting a shot past a screened Greenville keeper Jerry Kuhn to make it 2-1 Gwinnett with Paul Flache and Tyler Murovich assisting. 1:44 later, Alpharetta native Brad Miller followed up with another goal with the help of Nikita Kashirsky and Tyler Helfrich to put the Glads up by two.

In the third period, Helfrich made his first game as a Gladiator one to remember. The rookie forward scored twice 18 seconds apart, at 6:51 and 7:09 to help the Glads pull away. Pat Galivan's second of the season at 15:45 capped the scoring at 6-1.

Gladiators' goaltender, Marc Cheverie stopped 36-of-37 shots to pick up his first win with the Glads. His opponent, Jerry Kuhn allowed six goals for the second straight start taking a loss for the Road Warriors.

After going 0-for-7 on the power-play in their last game, the Glads went 2-for-3 Friday night. They also limited Greenville to one power-play tally in five tries.

The same two teams will conclude their two-game set Saturday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center at 7:05 p.m.
