Gladiators Start New Season Tonight; Add Legault

DULUTH, Ga. - The Gwinnett Gladiators announced the signing of forward Maxime Legault on Friday, prior to the team starting the season at 7:05 p.m. at the Arena at Gwinnett Center against the Greenville Road Warriors. In addition, forward Brian Elser was released, and forward Stefan Schneider retired from professional hockey.

Legault (pronounced leg-OH), 24, totaled 18 points (11 goals, seven assists) in 60 games with the Rochester Americans of the AHL last season. The Mont-Tremblant, Quebec native comes into this season with 194 games of AHL experience under his belt, racking up 59 points (31 goals, 28 assists) in stints with the Portland Pirates and Americans. Legault was a seventh round pick of the Buffalo Sabres in 2007.

The Gladiators are members of the ECHL, the nation's premier "AA" hockey league and are affiliated with the Phoenix Coyotes of the NHL. All home games are played at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
