Colorado Eagles Overcome Bakersfield in Season Opener

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles were able to overcome the Bakersfield Condors in the ECHL 2013-14 season opener, 2-1, in a shootout.

Colorado forward Kyle Ostrow was able to score top shelf on the first shift of the game, just :37 into the game to put the Eagles up 1-0. Ostrow was assisted by Eagles defenseman Kevin Young for his first Eagles and ECHL point.

Bakersfield wasn't going to let their side of the scoreboard stay blank. Forward Chase Schaber tied the game, 1-1 with a shot from the bottom of the circle. At the end of the second period the Eagles and the Condors were matched shot-for-shot, 15-15.

The third period was goalless for both teams, taking them into overtime and finally, into a shootout. Eagles forwards Greg Gardner and Ray Sawada were not able to get their shots past Condors goaltender Tyler Bunz but forwards Trent Daavettila, Kevin Ulanski and Dylan Hood were all able to best Bunz for a nail-biting win against the Condors, 2-1. Eagles goaltender, Adam Brown was the star of the game stopping 27 of the 28 shots that Bakersfield dealt him and stopping three of the five shootout shots.
