Gladiators Snap Everblades 12 game home winning streak with 5-4 ot Win

Gwinnett snapped the Florida Everblades 12 game home winning streak with a 5-4 overtime win on Friday night at the Germain Arena in Estero, Florida. Jimmy Sharrow had the game winning goal 1:13 in the overtime period after Troy Milam tied the game at 4-4 with 48 seconds left in the third period. Entering tonight's game with a 12 games home winning streak, Florida looked to remove any doubt about their dominance on home ice jumping out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of goals scored a minute apart within the first two minutes of the first period. Dan Sisca posted the Everblades first tally of the game just 60 seconds in the opening period. He beat Gladiators netminder Sean Fields on a 2-on-1 break off a feed from Kevin Bergin for the early lead. Just a minute later, Bogdan Rudenko gave the Everblades a 2-0 lead ripping a slap shot over Fields' shoulder from the right wing face off circle. Sean Stefanaski picked up a helper on the goal. Gwinnett hung in during the first period and cut the Florida lead to 2-1 off a power play goal from Danny Eberly 6:46 into the first period. His slapshot from the point deflected off of the stick of Florida netminder Phil Osaer and into the back of the net for his 4th goal of the season. Steve Slaton and Scott Kelman picked up the assists on the goal. Scott Kelman equalized the contest before the end of the first period with his 8th goal of the season. Finding a loose puck in the slot, Kelman jammed the puck past Osaer for the power play tally. Brad Schell and Jimmy Sharrow picked up the assists on the second power play goal of the first period for the Gladiators. Gwinnett jumped ahead 2:26 into the second period on Kelman's second goal of the night. The forward was able to dribble the puck past Osaer for the goal on the power play giving Gwinnett a 3-2 lead. Florida equalized the contest 44 seconds later on a goal by Jon Lehun as he jammed the puck past Fields. Paul Cabana and Nick Vukovic picked up the assists on the tally at the 3:15 mark of the second period. Phil Aucoin gave the Everblades a 4-3 lead late in the second period ripping a snap shot from the slot past Fields. Parked all alone in front of the Gwinnett net, Aucion took a pass from John Ronan to set up the tally. Sean Stefanaski also picked up an assist on the goal at 16:13 into the second period. Troy Milam tied the game up at four with his third goal of the game on the power play with 48 seconds left in the final period. Milam beat Osaer with a slap shot from the point as the Gladiators had Fields pulled in favor of an extra attacker. Picked up the assists on the power play goal for the Gladiators. Jim Sharrow scored the game winner at the 1:13 mark of the overtime period rolling the puck over Osaer from the left wing circle for tally. Brad Schell picked up the assist on the goal as the Gladiators snapped the Everblades 12 game home winning streak with the win. Sean Fields made 35 saves to pick up the win and help the Gladiators improve to 17-6-4 on the season. Gwinnett went 4-for-8 on the power play in the win with the game winner as the only even strength goal scored by the Gladiators.
