Former Lynx Corbeil notches game winner for Stingrays

Former Lynx Scott Corbett made the most of his appearance in Augusta on Friday night, scoring the game-winning goal in a 4-1 South Carolina Stingrays victory before 2,672 fans at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center.

Corbett tipped a goalmouth pass just underneath the crossbar at the 6:38 mark of the first period to make it 2-0 South Carolina. Joe Pereira would draw the Lynx within 2-1 with a rebound goal off an Anthony Battaglia shot at 7:06, with BJ Gaustad collecting the other assist on the play.

South Carolina extended their with Craig Olynick's second period goal on a slap shot from the right wing at 9:54 of the second period, followed by Marty Clapton's marker at 8:17 of the third period.

Ty Morris kicked off the scoring for the Stingrays just 1:56 into the contest from Ryan Finnerty and Cail MacLean.

Jason Wolfe stopped 19 shots in the loss for Augusta while Davis Parley garnered the victory with 22 saves. Augusta finished the game 0-for-6 on the power play while South Carolina went 0-for-7.

The same two teams will lock horns again tomorrow night at 6 pm, with the Classic Stucco and Stone Pre-Game Show kicking off one half-hour before faceoff on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630.
