Ice Pilots Win vs Charlotte 4-1 & Fulghum Named ECHL All-Star

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots improved their record to 3-0 against Charlotte this season by defeating the Charlotte Checkers on Friday night 4-1 at the Pensacola Civic Center.
Tyler Scott started the scoring for the Ice Pilots at the 4:02 mark of the first period tipping in a rebound shot in front of the net to give the Ice Pilots a 1-0 lead. Bryson Busniuk scored his third goal of the season at the 7:26 mark of the first period to give the Ice Pilots a 2-0 lead.
The Ice Pilots would take a 3-0 lead on a power play goal by Brian Collins at the 10:36 mark of the second period as Collins snapped a wrist shot from the right wing circle that fooled Charlotte goalie Chris Holt. Kenton Smith would scored a power play goal for Charlotte at the 13:42 mark to make it a 3-1 game.
Nick Lindberg ended the scoring with a shorthanded goal for the Ice Pilots 1:04 into the third period to help give the Ice Pilots a 4-1 win.
The Ice Pilots had 46 shots on goal, 19 penalty minutes and went 1-5 on the power play. Charlotte had 26 shots on goal, 17 penalty minutes and went 1-5 on the power play. Todd Ford was the winning goalie for the Ice Pilots and Chris Holt took the loss in goal for the Charlotte.
The Ice Pilots improved their record overall to 11-14-3 for 25 points and Charlotte dropped their record to 14-12-3 for 31 points.
Before Friday night's game, the ECHL announced that right wing Luke Fulghum will represent the Ice Pilots in the Bud-Light/ECHL All Star game to be played on Wednesday, January 25 in Fresno, California.
Fulghum in his first year of professional hockey has played in 23 games for the Ice Pilots this season scoring 8 goals, 14 assists for 22 points picking up 22 penalty minutes and has also played in 7 games for the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League picking up six penalty minutes.
Fulghum played college hockey at th e University of Denver from 2001-2005 helping the Pioneers win the NCAA Championship the last two years. He was one of the top scorers on the Pioneers team last year with 21 goals, 18 assists for 39 points in 41 games played. He is 25 years old from Colorado Springs, Colorado and shoots right.
The Ice Pilots will host the Charlotte Checkers on Saturday night at the Pensacola Civic Center at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans will receive a 2006 Calendar.
