Gladiators Slip Past Stingrays 2-1

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays (14-10-0-1) fell to the Gwinnett Gladiators (12-8-5-3) 2-1 on Toys for Tots Night at the North Charleston Coliseum Friday night.

The Gladiators kicked off the scoring with a shorthanded tally from defenseman Paul Flache at 10:06 of the first period firing a shot past Stingrays goaltender Philipp Grubauer (L, 28 saves on 30 shots) from the top of the left-wing circle. Forwards Bryan Brutlag and Tyler Murovich earned assists.

Gladiators forward Chris Clackson made it 2-0 at 7:01 of the final frame from Murovich and Brutlag. The Stingrays cut the lead in half with a power-play goal from defenseman Zach Tarkir at 14:35 slipping a shot past the glove of Gladiators keeper Jeff Jakaitis (W, 22 saves on 23 shots). Forwards Chris Doyle and Sean Dolan grabbed assists. The Stingrays finished the night 1-for-6 on the power play while the Gladiators went 0-for-1.

The Stingrays and Chase After A Cure are teaming up to fight neuroblastoma tomorrow, Saturday, December 17 against the Gladiators at the North Charleston Coliseum.
