Gladiators shutout by Cottonmouths, 4-0

The Gladiators could only get 21 shots on net as Columbus goaltender Jason Tapp recorded his second consecutive shutout as Gwinnett fell to the Cottonmnouths 4-0 on Friday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

John Morlang rolled a puck up the shoulder of Gladiators goaltender Michael Garnett to give Columbus a 1-0 lead. Christian Larrivee added an assist on the goal at 15:09 of the first period.

Columbus extended its lead to 2-0 on a two-on-one break as Marc-Andre Thinel beat Garnett on the rush. J-F Plourde and Colin Pepperall added the assists on the goal at 19:23 of the third period.

John Morlang extended the Cottonmouths lead to 3-0 as John Morlang beat Garnett from the left side with a snap shot. Brad Voth added an assist on the goal at 8:42 if the third.

Marc-Andre Thinel rounded out the scoring as he added his second of the night to give the Cottonmouths a 4-0 lead. Dan Tessier and Peter Hogan added the assists on the power play goal at 12:08 of the third.

The shutout marks the first time this season that the Gladiators have been shutout. The 21 shots set a new season low for shots in game.

The Gladiators are back in action tomorrow when they travel to Columbus for a rematch as the battle the Cottonmouths at 7:35 p.m.
