Tonight's Game

The Columbia Inferno (21-10-4) and the Toledo Storm (12-16-3) meet for the first time in franchise history. The Inferno is in first place in the Southern Division of the Eastern Conference with 46 points. The Storm is in eighth place in the Northern Division of the Eastern Conference with 27 points.

Last Inferno Game – INFERNO 7 – Roanoke 0 Thursday, January 8 Home

Josh Blackburn recorded his second shutout in a row as the Inferno torch the Express 7-0 Thursday night at the Carolina Coliseum. The Inferno scored all seven goals at even strength. Barrie Moore opened the scoring for Columbia as he scored off of the rebound of a Robin Carruthers shot at 12:12 of the first period. Greg Amadio scored his third goal of the season with a slapshot from the point at 14:17 with help from Matt Ulwelling. Alex Burrows scored his first of the night at 17:24 with a shot from in front of the crease with passes from Sean Owens and Eric Labelle. Burrows scored his second goal of the night at 14:06 of the second period from a Tim Smith pass across the middle as the Inferno went up 4-0. Paul Cabana tipped in the puck at 15:44 from Carruthers and Moore to give Columbia a 5-0 lead. Labelle scored with 1:22 left of the second to record his first goal on home ice but his fifth goal of the season. Derek Eastman and Burrows had the assists. Cabana rounded out the scoring in the third period with his second goal of the night at 1:19 with the set up by Chris St. Croix and Moore. Blackburn stopped 27 shots to record his 14th win and second shutout of the year. Columbia had a record high of 50 shots on goal and was 0-4 on the power play.

Josh Blackburn recorded his third shutout of the season last night against the Roanoke Express and improved his record to 14-5-3...Tim Smith has six points (2g-4a) in his last four games...Alex Burrows has eight points (4g-4a) in his last four games and is among the leading scorers in the ECHL with 40 points...Eric Labelle has a 2 goals and 2 assists in his last two games...Columbia leads the league in goals for with 3.94...Barrie Moore has seven points (2g-5a) in his last four games...Robin Carruthers has eight points (5g-3a) in his last four games...Paul Cabana has three goals in the last two games and leads ECHL rookies in shots with 131...Chris St. Croix is on a four game assist streak with four assists...Greg Amadio has two goals in his last two games.

Toledo Storm

Morten Ask leads the Storm in points with 23 (8g-15a)...Nick Parillo leads Toledo in penalty minutes with 95...Toledo has lost their last five games...This is the Storm's first non-divisional game this season.

Next Inferno Game

Inferno will travel to play the Pensacola Ice Pilots on Saturday, January 10th. This is the first meeting between the Inferno and Ice Pilots in franchise history.
