Gistedt Recalled To San Antonio; Wranglers Netminder Headed To AHL

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers© announced today that goaltender Joel Gistedt has been recalled by the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League.

Gistedt, 22, has appeared in nine games this season for Las Vegas, posting a record of 1-5-1 for the Wranglers. Gistedt has put up an.862 save percentage and 4.62 goals against average this season.

The 5'11" goalie has appeared in one game for San Antonio last season, making his AHL debut on November 8th, 2008, against Quad City. Gistedt entered in the third period and turned away seven of nine shots. Last season in the CHL, the 174-pound goaltender appeared in 29 games for the Arizona Sundogs, posting a record of 10-15-0, and.873 save percentage with a 4.15 goals against average, with one shutout.

In 2007-08, Gistedt backstopped Sweden to a fourth place finish in the 2007 World Junior Championships, posting a 1-4-0 record, with a 1.96 goals against average and a.912 save percentage.

The Uddevalla, Sweden native was selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, 36th overall. Gistedt was named the top-ranked European goaltender by NHL Central Scouting in 2007.
