Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Ben Gordon has been returned to Reading from the Abbotsford Heat of the AHL. In a separate transaction, forward Matt Marquardt has been recalled by the Providence Bruins.

Gordon was loaned to the Heat on Monday, and played in that team's 3-1 loss to the Houston Aeros that night. Gordon registered three shots on goal for Abbotsford. That was the third call up of the season for Gordon, a second year pro from International Falls, Minnesota. Gordon was loaned to the Providence Bruins on October 22, 2009 and played two games for the Bruins without registering any points before being returned to Reading. On December 27, 2009, Gordon was loaned to the Toronto Marlies where he played seven games, scoring two goals and adding two assists, before being returned to the Royals. In 38 games with Reading this season, Gordon has scored 19 goals and added 31 assists (50 points) and played to a plus-11.

Marquardt, a second year pro from North Bay, Ontario, was on his second assignment to Reading. He was assigned to the Royals last Wednesday (January 27, 2010) and played in the team's three games last week. He scored his first goal of the season in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Gwinnett Gladiators. In six games with the Royals, Marquart has scored one goal and assisted on two others (three points) and picked up fourteen penalty minutes. In thirty-three games with the Bruins, he has registered eight assists and racked up nineteen penalty minutes.

The Royals are off until Friday night (February 5, 2010 @ 7:00 pm) when the team travels to the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, New Jersey, where they'll face the Trenton Devils for the ninth time this season. The Royals game night broadcast on the Royals Radio Network presented by Transmissions by Arbogast will kick off with the pre-game warm-up show at 6:30 pm.
