
Alaska's Doyle Named ECHL Goaltender Of The Month For January

PRINCETON, N.J. - Frank Doyle of the Alaska Aces has been named the ECHL Goaltender of the Month for January.
Since being acquired by Alaska from Charlotte on Jan. 2, Doyle is 7-2-2 to help the Aces improve to 20-21-4. He is 10-4-2 overall and ranks second in the league with a save percentage of.921 and is third in goals-against average with 2.58.
The 29 year old won six games in a row for the Aces from Jan. 4-22 including the team's first shutout of the year when he made 37 saves in 3-0 win against Las Vegas on Jan. 16. He has made 30-or-more saves in nine games including a season high 42 on Jan. 22 at Stockton and Jan. 27 at Bakersfield.
Doyle played in the ECHL as a rookie in 2004-05 and was voted the Most Valuable Player at the ECHL All-Star Game while also being named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team and finishing third in balloting for ECHL Rookie of the Year. He was 32-13-4 with a goals-against average of 2.11 and a save percentage of.917 in 52 regular season games for Idaho. He tied for the league lead in wins, ranked third in minutes and tied for sixth in goals-against average while also playing one game in the American Hockey League with Utah.
The Guelph, Ontario native has played four seasons in the AHL and is 55-86-11 with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.92 and a save percentage of.908 with Utah, Albany and Lowell from 2004-08. He played in Germany in 2008-09 and was 13-20-0 with a goals-against average of 3.07 and a save percentage of.903 in 47 games for Cologne.
Prior to turning professional, Doyle played two seasons for the University of Maine where he was 29-8-5 with seven shutouts, a goals-against average of 1.96 and a save percentage of.919 from 2002-04. He was 19-4-0 with five shutouts in 2003-04 to help Maine capture the Hockey East championship and advance to the NCAA championship game where they lost 1-0 to Denver.
