Erie SeaWolves News Release

The Erie SeaWolves snapped a three-game losing skid and led wire-to-wire with a 9-1 win over the Harrisburg Senators on Tuesday night at FNB Field.

The SeaWolves grabbed a first inning lead against Senators starter Luis Reyes. Parker Meadows kept the inning alive, extending his hitting streak to five straight sending a bouncer through the right side. Quincy Nieporte laced a double down the left field line, scoring Meadows from first. Dane Myers followed with an RBI single scoring Nieporte for a 2-0 lead.

The Senators cut the lead in half in the last of the second when Israel Pineda lifted a one-out solo home run off of Erie starter Sawyer Gipson-Long.

Erie added to the lead in the fourth. Meadows led off with a walk and Dillon Dingler reached on a two-out error, extending the inning for Gage Workman. The 'Wolves took advantage of the error as Workman belted an opposite-field three-run home run for a 5-1 lead. The home run for Workman was his 11th and second in the last two games.

The two-out thunder continued for Erie in the top of the sixth. Meadows led off with a single, his second of three hits on the night. Reyes retired the next two batters before Dingler laced a line-drive home run, his 13th of the year, making it 7-1.

The SeaWolves would go on to add to more runs. In the seventh, Corey Joyce led off with and was hit by a pitch from reliever Steven Fuentes. He would score on a two-out wild pitch. In the top of the ninth, Andrew Navigato led off against reliever Zach Brzycky and hammered a 411' solo home run to left-center, his 13th of the season. It was only the second home run allowed this season by Brzycky in Double-A and both have come off of Navigato's bat.

Gipson-Long (2-1) was phenomenal on the night, becoming the first Erie starter to go seven innings. He allowed a run on four hits with two walks and five strikeouts.

Joe Navilhon hurled two scoreless innings to close out the game in relief of Gipson-Long.

The defense behind both Gipson-Long and Navilhon was spectacular as they turned a season-high five double plays.

Reyes (4-7) took the loss allowing seven runs, four earned, on six hits with two walks and eight strikeouts in six innings.
