Pineda Homers in Senators 9-1 Loss

The Harrisburg Senators opened their six-game series with the Erie SeaWolves Tuesday night and lost 9-1. The SeaWolves scored eight of their nine runs with two outs. Harrisburg scored their only run on a solo home run in the second inning off the bat of Israel Pineda. Erie began the day tied for first place with Bowie.

Luis Reyes started for the Senators and went six innings. He allowed seven runs but just four earned. He struck out eight and walked two. He was hurt by three straight two out hits in the first inning and by an error in the fourth that prolonged the inning and led to a three-run home run. Steven Fuentes pitched one inning and allowed a run on a hit and two walks. Andrew Lee tossed a scoreless eighth inning and Zach Brzykcy allowed a solo home run in the ninth before retiring the final three batters.

Harrisburg had just four hits in the game, two by Wilson Garcia. Trey Harris went 0-for-3 and had his 12-game hitting streak snapped. Harrisburg had just one at bat with runners in scoring position.

The Sens committed two errors in the game, leading to three runs. Erie turned five double plays in the game, four batted and one strikeout/throw out double play. Luis Reyes picked off a runner at second base in the first inning.
