TACOMA, Wash. - Rainiers starter Jimmy Gillheeney turned in 6.2 shutout innings in his Triple-A debut as Tacoma blanked the Tucson Padres 3-0 at Cheney Stadium on Tuesday.

The left-hander surrendered four hits, one walk and struck out nine batters - the most collected by a Rainiers pitcher this season - on the way to helping extend Tacoma's winning streak to seven games.

Nate Tenbrink gave the Rainiers an early 1-0 lead, scoring from third after Eric Thames grounded into a double play in the bottom of the first.

Carlos Triunfel plated two more runs with a one-out single in the seventh and a bases-loaded walk drawn by Thames added another later in the frame.

Nick Franklin led a Rainiers lineup that combined to collect six hits. The infielder went 3-for-3 to stretch his hitting streak to 11 games. Thames ended the night 0-for-3 with an RBI and a walk, ending his team-leading hitting streak at 13 games.

Right-hander Danny Farquhar picked up his third save this season after striking out five batters over 2.1 shutout innings.

The Rainiers (16-10) hope to stretch their win streak to eight in the third game of the team's four-game series against Tucson tomorrow, May 1. Reigning PCL Pitcher of the Week Andrew Carraway (3-1, 3.38) is scheduled to start for Tacoma against right-hander Tim Stauffer (1-2, 4.56) for the Padres.
