Lansing Lugnuts News Release

LANSING, Mich. - The Lansing Lugnuts, in conjunction with the Toronto Blue Jays, announced that right-handed pitcher Chuck Ghysels has been transferred to Extended Spring Training, with left-handed pitcher Efrain Nieves received from Class A-Advanced Dunedin in a corresponding move.

Ghysels, 23, was 2-1 with 5.09 ERA and a team-leading three saves in 14 appearances for the Lugnuts in his Midwest League debut.

Nieves, 23, was acquired by the Blue Jays as a Rule 5 selection in December 2012 from the Detroit Tigers organization and recorded a 2-2, 5.49 mark in seven appearances, four starts, spanning 19.2 innings for Dunedin. A native of Caguas, Puerto Rico, drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers, he previously pitched in the Midwest League for Wisconsin in both 2009 and 2010. Nieves also notably made an appearance in the 2013 World Baseball Classic, limiting the Dominican Republic to one run on three hits in 2.1 innings.

The Lugnuts' roster now consists of 25 active players with seven players on the Disabled List.
