ERIE, Pa - Willy Carcia homered in the ninth inning to extend his hitting streak to twelve games, but the Altoona Curve had their winning streak snapped at five games with a 6-4 loss to the Erie SeaWolves on Sunday afternoon at Jerry Uht Park.

Garcia's twelve-game hitting streak ties a team-high in 2015, originally set by Dan Gamache. The solo shot was the fourth home run of the season for Garcia.

The Curve (33-21) lost to the SeaWolves (19-34) for the first time in 2015, having won the first eight meetings between the two teams this year.

Altoona took a 2-0 lead in the third inning with RBI singles by Adam Frazier and Josh Bell.

Erie tied the game with a solo home run Tony Thomas against Chad Kuhl (Loss, 4-2) in the fourth and took the lead on an RBI single by Drew Longley. Later in the inning, Harold Castro hit a sacrifice fly to put the SeaWolves ahead 4-2.

Thomas hit his second home run of the game in the sixth during a two-run inning for Erie.

With the Curve trailing 6-2 in the ninth, Garcia launched his fourth home run of the season to pull the Curve within three runs. Gamache followed with a solo home run to center on the next pitch to close the gap to 6-4. It was the first time Curve batters have hit back-to-back home runs this season.

In his start, Kuhl allowed 10 hits, which tied a career high, while surrendering a season-high six runs. Tom Harlan pitched two scoreless relief innings and Yhonathan Barrios worked a 1-2-3 eighth.

After surrendering the two early runs, Erie starter Tommy Collier (Win, 1-0) settled in to finish the game with four hits allowed, four walks and seven strikeouts in 7.2 innings.

The Curve and SeaWolves play the finale of the four-game series on Monday night at Jerry Uht Park. Right-hander Matt Benedict (1-2, 5.63) will start for Altoona, countered by Erie righty Austin Kubitza (3-4, 4.64). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
