Collier Sharp as 'Wolves Down Curve

The Seawolves were finally able to get the bats going to defeat the Curve by a 6-4 score, taking game three of the series.

Altoona would open the scoring in the third inning, as they would quickly take a 2-0 lead. A walk and two consecutive base hits by the Curve would open the scoring in the second. Jacob Stallings would draw the walk, then singles by Gift Ngoepe and Adam Frazier would bring home Stallings. Then, a Josh Bell single with two outs would score Ngoepe giving Altoona the 2-0 lead.

The Erie bats would start to heat up, as they would answer with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 4-2 lead. Dean Green would single to lead off the inning, and advance to second on a wild pitch. Tony Thomas would then step up and smash his second homerun in a Erie uniform tying the game at two apiece. Erie would not be done, as they would rattle off three single in a row from James Robbins, Connor Harrell and Drew Longley. The Longley single would score Robbins from second and give Erie the 3-2 lead. Harold Castro would then deliver a sacrifice fly, scoring Harrell from third as Erie increased their lead 4-2.

Tony Thomas second homer of the game and third in the past two days would open up the scoring in the top of the sixth for Erie. This homer would knock starting pitcher Chad Kuhl out of the game, as Tom Harlan would come in for relief. James Robbins would follow the homer up with a single of his own. Connor Harrel would then reach on a fielder's choice and eventually be driven in by a Harold Castro single. After six, Erie would lead it 6-2.

The scoring would conclude with two solo homers off of Erie reliever Jeff Ferrell in the top on the ninth inning. The comeback effort from Altoona was not enough as Erie would on to be 6-4 winners.

Tommy Collier picks up the win on the mound for Erie, his first in an Erie uniform. Collier improved to 1-0 on the year while Chad Kuhl takes the loss for Altoona dropping to 4-2 on the season.
