Adirondack Thunder News Release

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight is the first of three consecutive meetings between divisional rivals Adirondack and Reading and the first time that the two teams will square off this season. After tonight's game, the Thunder will spend the weekend on the road for two games in Pennsylvania, before they return to the Civic Center for a stretch of five straight home games.

NONE SHALL PASS: The Adirondack defensive unit has helped the Thunder to allow the fewest goals in the Eastern Conference, with 59 allowed through 26 games. This stat contributes to Adirondack's winning percentage in the Eastern Conference, which is still tops in the conference despite a slower month of December.

EARLY BIRDS: When leading after the game's first few minutes, there are few teams that are as hard to beat as the Thunder. Adirondack is 11-0-1-1 when they lead after 20 minutes of play and is one of six teams in the league that has collected a point in every game where they have led through one period of play. The men of Glens Falls are also 13-0-1-0 when leading after two periods.

RY, RY, RY: Thunder blueliner Ryan Constant collected his team's only goal in Tuesday's 3-1 defeat to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Constant is currently the team's leading scorer from the defensive unit this season with 16 points (2-14-16) and is tied for the lead among all Adirondack skaters in assists. The former Stockton Thunder defenseman is also second on the active roster with a +9 rating, behind only fellow blueliner Mike Bergin.

KIRKING AND SCREAMING: Michael Kirkpatrick continued his impressive scoring run on Tuesday with the primary assist on Constant's goal. Kirkpatrick collected his 14th assist of the season in the Thunder's 3-1 loss to Greenville to improve his season total to 25 points, good for fifth in rookie scoring in the ECHL. The North Sydney, NS native has also taken nearly twice as many shots as anyone else on the Thunder roster, with 83 SOG through his first 26 games.

READING RAILROAD: The Thunder will have their hands full trying to deal with the offensive talent of the Reading Royals. Rookie Justin Crandall is eighth in the league in points with nine goals and 20 assists, while Adam Comrie has scored 13 goals. Comrie also leads all defensemen in power play goals and points with the man advantage.
