It was a sloppy one last night, but the goaltenders were good as the Utah Grizzlies held off the Alaska Aces 2-1 at the Sullivan Arena. Colin Martin and Taylor Richart scored second-period goals for the Grizzlies, and Pavel Laplante found the back of the net for the Aces, but that was it. There were plenty of opportunities for both teams, but Aces netminder Kevin Carr and his counterpart of the Grizzlies, Kevin Boyle, stymied the shooters the rest of the way and Utah bounced back from a 4-2 loss to the Aces Wednesday.
Tonight is Hall of Fame Night for the Aces, as former coach Davis Payne, goaltenders Matt Underhill and Chris Beckford-Tseu and forward Vladimir Novak wil be inducted in between periods. All four were instrumental in the Aces 2006 Kelly Cup championship.
