"Pink at the Rink" Moments Away
February 10, 2017 - ECHL (ECHL)
Rapid City Rush News Release
(RAPID CITY, SD) - The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Arizona Coyotes, are set for their 9th Annual "Pink at the Rink" showdown, brought to you by SHE 106.3, against the Allen Americans tonight at 7:05 p.m. The event, taken by widespread storm in minor-professional sports, honors those who have fought and survived, those who are fighting, and those who have unfortunately lost their lives to the insidious disease of breast cancer.
To gear up for the occasion, the Rush hosted their 2nd Annual "Paint the Ice Pink" event, where fans could paint the names of loved one affected by cancer to be on display for those in attendance for tonight's game. Last night, over 300 people came and wrote countless names all over the ice.
Tonight, the Rush looks not only for their fifth win all-time on the specialty night, but also looks to eclipse a major milestone in the fight against this dreadful disease. If enough donations are collected, the team will surpass $300,000 in total donations since the inaugural event in 2009.
Rush players will wear specialty pink jerseys, sponsored by ASI, that will be auctioned off following the game, and a portion of those proceeds will be donated to the Cancer Care Institute. Additionally, if $10,000 is raised in the arena tonight, then Assistant Coach Daniel Tetrault and 8 of your favorite Rush players will get their heads shaved in solidarity with those affected by cancer next Monday at noon at the Great Clips on West Main Street.
Come out and support not just the Rush in their game tonight, but also all of those in our community and beyond that have displayed courage and heart in the fight against breast cancer!
