BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Josh Winquist scored twice in regulation and Michael Dal Colle notched the shootout winner as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (24-15-1-1), proud AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, edged their in-state rivals, the Hartford Wolf Pack (15-24-3-2), 3-2, at Webster Bank Arena on Friday.

It was Bridgeport's season-best sixth straight win and its fourth against the Wolf Pack this season (4-1-0-0). All six games during the team's current win streak have been decided by two goals or less.

In addition, the victory moved Brent Thompson into a tie for first place on the Sound Tigers' all-time wins list for head coaches, tying Jack Capuano's 133 victories from 2007-11.

BOXSCORE

In the fifth meeting this season between the in-state rivals, the Wolf Pack struck first in the opening three minutes of the game. Tanner Glass brought the puck into the zone down the left wing and chipped a pass to Chris Brown at the doorstep. From there, the forward beat Jaroslav Halak on a second effort when he lifted the puck over Halak's glove at the 2:08 mark.

The Sound Tigers bounced back on the power play when Winquist recorded his first goal of the night. With Glass in the box for tripping, Josh Ho-Sang controlled the puck in the offensive zone and slid a diagonal pass to Winquist in the right circle. He proceeded to hammer a shot off the right post and crossbar, past Magnus Hellberg's glove at 14:12. Kane Lafranchise also logged an assist on the goal that was under review for more than six minutes, but eventually confirmed.

Bridgeport took its first lead of the game at the 4:17 mark of the middle frame when Winquist, Ho-Sang and Lafranchise again teamed up to beat Hellberg. Lafranchise fed the puck to Ho-Sang in the Hartford zone, where the rookie skated down the left wing. From the bottom of the circle, Ho-Sang wristed a pass across the low slot to Winquist, where the third-year forward quickly beat Hellberg glove side.

Hartford made things interesting with a power-play goal in the final five minutes of the third to tie the game at 2-2. With Ben Holmstrom in the box for boarding, Mat Bodie gathered the puck along the left half-boards and fed a pass to Matt Carey at the left post. Carey finished the attack by stuffing a backhand shot under Halak's leg pads for his 11th tally of the season.

Both teams set a blistering pace during the five-minute overtime session, but Halak and Hellberg stopped the six combined shots to force a shootout. In the four-round affair, Andrew Rowe and Dal Colle each found the back of the net, including Dal Colle's first shootout winner this season. The former fifth overall pick in 2014 skated up the left side and faked a shot before backhanding it up and over Hellberg's glove. Adam Tambellini was the only one to score for the Wolf Pack.

Halak (5-1-2) made 21 saves in his fourth straight win, while Hellberg (10-9-5) stopped 22 shots in Hartford's loss.

The Sound Tigers went 1-for-6 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill. Bridgeport outshot Hartford 25-23.
