ST. JOHN'S, NL - The arch rivals battled it out at Mile One Centre on Friday night but it was the Toronto Marlies to come out on top with a 5-3 victory over the St. John's IceCaps.

Bobby Farnham lit the lamp just 1:31 into the first and Joel Hanley picked up the lone helper. The Marlies would answer with two tallies later in the period to take a 2-1 lead.

Yannick Veilleux snuck one past Toronto netminder Antoine Bibeau in the second period (from Farnham), but the Marlies would respond just 34 seconds later to keep the lead going into the third.

Ryan Johnston - fresh off the plane from the Habs - scored a beautiful goal in the third to tie it back up at threes, but the Marlies would go ahead to score two more unanswered tallies to seal the win.
