Matchup:

After fending off elimination with a 2-0 win on Friday night, the Solar Bears followed it up with a come-from-behind 3-2 overtime victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones on Saturday night. The Cyclones got out to a strong start in the first period, as F Byron Froese and F Josh Birkholtz each scored to give Cincinnati a 2-0 lead going into the second period. Forward C.J. Severyn cut the lead in half less than two minutes into the second frame when he finished off a pass from D Bryce Aneloski to bring the score to 2-1 heading into the final period of regulation. D Blake Kessel capitalized on a power play with a slap shot from the blueline at 7:58 to tie the game at 2-2, eventually forcing overtime. Just five minutes into the sudden death period, D Eric Baier completed the comeback and kept the season alive for Orlando when he took a pass from F Jacob Cepis at the top of the left circle and blasted a slap shot past G Rob Madore to lift the Solar Bears to a 3-2 victory. Tonight's game marks the third straight must-win contest for the Solar Bears who now trail the Cyclones 3 games to 2 in the Best-of-Seven series. Game Seven, if necessary, is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, April 30, at 7:00 p.m. at the Amway Center in Orlando.

Mickey Lang MVP Award:

F Mickey Lang was named the ECHL MVP earlier this month after leading the league with 44 goals and 16 power play goals, becoming the first ECHL player to eclipse the 40 goal mark since Wes Goldie (Alaska Aces) during the 2010-11 season (46 goals). Lang was also named to the All-ECHL First Team. He was presented with his awards earlier today. On behalf of the Solar Bears, the Solar Bears Cares charity program, and Mickey Lang, $1000 will be donated to Wounded Warriors in honor of Mickey's accomplishments this season.
