EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Despite pumping 43 shots on net last Saturday night, the Cyclones suffered a 3-2 overtime defeat which has sent this series back to Orlando for Game 6. Tonight, the Cyclones will attempt to close things out at the Amway Center. While this Eastern Conference Quarterfinals match-up started out offensive, both teams have buckled down defensively; neither has been able to score more than three times since Game 2.

SCOUTING THE SOLAR BEARS: Vince Williams' club rallied from an early 2-0 deficit on Saturday to capture their second victory of the series. Unlike the regular season, this first round has been an offense-by-committee. Four different Solar Bears have notched three points through five games, one of whom being Wade MacLeod who has posted points in each of the Orlando wins. Goaltender Christopher Gibson shook off an early struggle and made 41 saves to help his team extend the series.

LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING: APRIL 26, 2014: Eric Baier's overtime goal capped off a late-game rally for the Solar Bears as they defeated the Cyclones by a 3-2 final score in front of 1,559 at U.S. Bank Arena. With the victory, Orlando avoids playoff elimination and sends the series, which Cincinnati currently leads 3-2, back to Orlando for Game 6. Goaltender Christopher Gibbons, who was making his first playoff start, stood strong late in the game and allowed his team to make a comeback, turning aside 41 of the 43 shots he faced in the tilt.

At Home on the Road: The Cyclones hope to continue one of their biggest strengths this week - their play on the road. They earned an ECHL-best 24-9-1-2 record away from U.S. Bank Arena in the regular season while claiming wins in each of their two games at Amway Center in this series.

Froese Catches Fire: Despite missing Game 1, Cyclones forward Byron Froese has been the hottest Cincinnati player in this series. With another goal on Saturday night, he now leads the club with seven points (5g, 2a). In Game 2, he became just the third Cyclone in club history to register a playoff hat trick.
