TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (12-8-1-3) return home for their third game in as many nights. Ontario's opponent this evening is the Utah Grizzlies (9-9-2-2). This is the fifth meeting of the season between these two clubs, and the final time in 2014 that the Reign will host the Grizzlies; Utah will make a return to Citizens Business Bank Arena for a two-game set against Ontario in mid-March.
SCOFIELD CONTINUES HOT START:
Recent newcomer Tyler Scofield picked up another point on Thursday, as he assisted on Maxim Kitsyn's third period power-play goal. After spending significant time playing right wing in Europe, Scofield has appeared to have made a smooth transition to the center position.
KITSYN FINDING SCORING TOUCH:
Although he was unable to keep Ontario alive in the shootout last night, Maxim Kitsyn's two goals in regulation play last night established a season-high for him. The Russian winger now has four goals over his last four games. He is still searching for his first game-winning goal after notching six game-winners with Ontario during his first professional season in North America last year.
LIGHTS DIM ON THE GRIZZLIES PENALTY KILL:
Ontario may be able to take advantage of a Utah penalty kill that has come up short over the past four games after the team completed a rare Eastern Conference road trip, giving up seven goals on the man advantage. The Grizzlies may be tired after logging plenty of frequent flyer miles, so it will be up to the Reign to build on their momentum after getting a power-play goal in the third period against Bakersfield on Thursday, and only being a week removed from setting a season high with three power-play goals last Friday against the Colorado Eagles.
