Game Preview

Tonight is the first game of a home and home series between the Kalamazoo Wings and the Toledo Walleye. Both teams will head back to the Huntington Center to wrap up the two-game set tomorrow. On the season, the K-Wings are 0-1-0-0 against the Walleye.

This evening will be a celebration for K-Wings defenseman Sam Ftorek. Ftorek will not only be celebrating his 1,000th career game, but his 789th in his ECHL career. The 789 games ties Ftorek with Cam Brown for the most played in an ECHL career.

The Walleye have been one of the hottest teams in the entire ECHL. Toledo comes into Wings Stadium looking to extend a seven-game (6-0-1-0) overall unbeaten streak and a six-game road winning streak. The Walleye enter tonight tied with the Fort Wayne Komets for first-place in the North Division.

Ftorek Reaches Milestone

Tonight will be a special one for defenseman Sam Ftorek. With his first shift of the game, Ftorek will be competing in his 1,000th career regular season game and his 789th of his ECHL career, which ties him with Cam Brown for most all-time in league history.

Bear-live it or Not

This evening Kalamazoo will face-off against the Toledo Walleye during the 15th Annual Teddy Bear Toss game. The K-Wings, who are 14-7-0-0 all-time in Teddy Bear Toss Games, are 10-4-0-0 at home and 4-3-0-0 as the road team.

Blain Returns

Earlier this afternoon the Vancouver Canucks reassigned defenseman Jeremie Blain to the K-Wings. Blain, who has been recalled to the Utica Comets since November 22nd, has recorded 3 points (2 goals, 1 assists) in eight games this season with the K-Wings.

Goaltender Joel Martin is closing in on K-Wings' ECHL history. Martin is one win shy of tying Ryan Nie for most ECHL wins (58) in K-Wings history.
