TONIGHT:
The defending Pacific Division Champion Ontario Reign (9-1-1-3) return home to face the Bakersfield Condors (2-10-0-1) after completing a seven-game road trip with games in five different cities. The Reign earned 11 of a possible 14 points on the road with a 5-1-0-1 record and are currently on a four-game win streak. The Condors won their most recent game 3-2 over Stockton in a shootout. Bakersfield's other win was a 2-1 regulation victory over the Las Vegas Wranglers.
With 22 points, the Reign are first in the Pacific Division, tied for first in the Western Conference with Alaska, and are in a three-way tie for second in the league with Alaska and Florida after South Carolina jumped ahead by one point for a total of 23.
LEAGUE RECOGNITION:
This week the Reign's Dan DaSilva and Michael Hutchinson were the first teammates of the season recognized for Player and Goaltender of the week for the same week. The last time this happened was for the week of March 25-30 when Florida won both categories with Mathieu Roy (Player of the Week) and Jesse Deckert (Goaltender of the Week).
SWINGING DOORS:
Since the team's last game on Sunday, Nov. 16, the Reign roster looks a bit different. The team lost Cameron Burt to the Manchester Monarchs (AHL) and Dan DaSilva to the Worcester Sharks (AHL) in call-ups. Zach Bell's rights were traded to the London Knights (OHL) so he returns to finish out his junior career there.
To make up for the new roster gaps, all-time Reign point leader Kyle Kraemer re-signed with Ontario after a nine-game stint with the CHL's St. Charles Chill and the Reign also picked up the 2011-12 ECHL MVP Chad Costello from St. Charles. Eric Springer's University of Wisconsin teammate Ryan Little signed with the Reign to make his pro debut.
