Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
Another Tough Night
The Aberdeen IronBirds won't hesitate to say goodbye to the Hudson Valley Renegades following a quick two game series in Aberdeen. The Renegades completed a two game sweep Thursday night, as they walked away with a 7-3 victory. Hudson Valley was able to get on the board early in the game as Hunter Lockwood led the inning off with a triple. Lockwood came around to score shortly after on a Bralin Jackson sac-fly to center field. Down by one, the IronBirds didn't wait long to respond as Federico Castagnini scored following a Randolph Gassaway triple. The game was tied at one headed into the fourth inning.
The McNamara Division leaders struck in the top of the fourth inning as they put up six runs and took a 7-1 lead. Hudson Valley combined for six runs off of six hits and two walks. The offensive explosion ultimately sealed the deal for the Renegades as they could not push any more runs across in the game. The IronBirds responded nicely in the sixth though as Jamill Moquete drilled a solo home run over the left field fence. The score was 7-2. Riley Palmer also came around to score in the inning after a Hector Veloz triple down the right field line. This was the last run the IronBirds would score and they found themselves down 7-3.
Familiar Situation, New Faces
IronBirds RHP Lucas Long got the start Thursday night and battled nicely. Long went three innings, allowed one run off of three hits and struck out four. With the game being tied in the fourth, the IronBirds sent out Luc Rennie. Rennie was roughed up in his sixth appearance of the season as he went just a third of an inning, allowing six runs off of five hits. Having just one out in the fourth, the IronBirds turned to Zeke McGranahan. Making his IronBirds debut, McGranahan went 1.2 innings where he allowed just one hit, allowed a walk and struck out two. RHP Michael Burke also made his IronBirds debut Thursday night following McGranahan. Burke went two complete innings, allowed one walk and struck out four. Max Schuh finished the night for the IronBirds as he went 2.0 innings, allowed two hits and struck out four. Despite the rough night, the IronBirds pitching staff racked up fourteen strikeouts.
On the Mound tonight...
The IronBirds will send out LHP John Means as he'll square off against the Spinners RHP Kevin McAvoy
