From the Notes

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Indians picked up a rare win at Huntington Park last night, doing so in dramatic fashion by scoring three runs in the ninth off Ben Taylor (L, 7-2), who was charged with his third blown save. Following a Kevin Kramer game-tying sac fly, Ryan Lavarnway drilled a two-run shot down the right-field line to give Indy a 4-2 advantage. After serving up a two-out solo homer to Yandy Diaz in the eighth, Michael Feliz (W, 1-0) pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the win. J.T. Brubaker was impressive again for the Tribe, tossing 7.0 innings of one-run ball. He struck out a season-high tying eight batters along the way. Indy had nine hits, with Christopher Bostick, Lavarnway, Jerrick Suiter and Pablo Reyes each recording two hits apiece.

TRIBE CATCHERS VS. COLUMBUS: Indy's catching trio of Ryan Lavarnway, Jacob Stallings and Jackson Williams have burned Clippers pitching this season. Their individual numbers vs. Columbus are below:

Lavarnway (11g): .421 (16-for-38), 3 HR, 5 2B, 8 RBI, 6 R, 6 BB, 6 K, .511 OBP, .789 SLG, 1.301 OPS

Stallings (7g): .448 (13-for-29), 6 2B, 7 RBI, 6 R, 5 K, .452 OBP, .655 SLG, 1.107 OPS

Williams (3g): .385 (5-for-13), 1 HR, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1.077 OPS

DEADLINE DEAL, BOSTICK PROMOTED: Just minutes before the trade deadline passed at 4 p.m. EDT today, the Pirates traded OF Austin Meadows, RHP Tyler Glasnow and a PTBNL to the Rays in exchange for RHP Chris Archer. Meadows, 23, played in 151 games for Indy from 2016-18, batting .250 (144-for-575) with 12 homers, three triples, 39 doubles, 81 RBI and 30 stolen bases. Glasnow, 24, started 43 total games for Indy from 2015-17 and posted a 19-6 record, 1.95 ERA and 321 strikeouts in 245.0 innings pitched (11.8 K per 9.0 IP). He had nine 10-plus strikeout games in a Tribe uniform. OF Christopher Bostick was recalled by Pittsburgh to take Meadows' place on the 25-man roster.

THE CLUTCH CLUB: Indy's win last night was its 10th last at-bat victory of the season and fourth since Friday. The Tribe won both games of their doubleheader on Friday vs. Buffalo, the first on a tiebreaking two-run homer hit by Wyatt Mathisen in the bottom of the sixth and the second on a go-ahead RBI single by Jose Osuna in the top of the seventh of the nightcap. Then in the second game of Sunday's twin bill vs. Buffalo, Erich Weiss drove in the winning run in the seventh on an infield single. Ryan Lavarnway was the latest to join Indy's recent 'clutch club' with his two-run homer in the ninth last night.

SUITED FOR HUNTINGTON PARK: Jerrick Suiter went 2-for-4 and stole his third base in as many attempts in last night's 4-2 comeback win. Suiter has four multi-hit games in 43 appearances for the Tribe this season, all four of them coming at Huntington Park (April 27, June 29, June 30, July 30). He is batting .421 (8-for-19) with one homer, two doubles, two RBI and six runs scored in five games in Columbus; he's hit .155 (16-for-103) with nine doubles, one triple, eight RBI and seven runs scored everywhere else in the International League.

BRU'S BAKERY: J.T. Brubaker allowed just one earned run on seven hits with eight strikeouts over 7.0 innings last night, his second straight start of 7.0 frames for the Tribe (also: July 25 vs. ROC) and fourth of the season (also: April 23 vs. Erie, April 30 @ Richmond [8.0ip]). Brubaker, 24, has allowed 2 ER or less in 10 of his 16 Triple-A starts, including eight of the last 11. The Indians are 9-1 when he allows 2 ER or less. Indy is 11-5 in his starts and 9-2 in his previous 11 outings.

MAGNIFICO MAGNIFICENT: Damien Magnifico has shut down IL batters over his last seven appearances (one start), allowing just six hits and four walks with 14 strikeouts in 16 consecutive scoreless innings. He threw 60 pitches in a spot start in Game 2 for Indy yesterday, his most pitches in an appearance in the last four seasons and first start since Aug. 9, 2014. His 16.0-inning scoreless streak is a career high, narrowly eclipsing a 15.2-inning streak that spanned the 2015-16 seasons between Double-A Biloxi and Triple-A Colorado Springs when he was a Brewers prospect. That streak ran from Aug. 16, 2015 to April 21, 2016.

MULTI-NEWMAN: The Tribe are 22-9 when Kevin Newman records two or more hits in a game. He leads the IL with 66 runs scored and 26 stolen bases and also ranks among league leaders in hits (3rd, 112), average (T-8th, .291) and doubles (T-3rd, 25). The 24-year-old has hit safely in 10 of his last 12 games dating back to July 19, batting .275 (14-for-51) with one homer, two doubles, five RBI, nine runs scored and four stolen bases during that stretch.

TANNER TIME: Tanner Anderson tossed a five-pitch, 1-2-3 ninth inning on Saturday night to earn his fifth save in seven chances. Anderson has not allowed an earned run in each of his last nine appearances dating back to June 19, spanning 10.1 innings pitched. He has yielded just nine baserunners during that stretch (7 hits, 1 walk, 1 HBP). For the season, the 25-year-old has allowed an earned run in just four of his 30 appearances with Indy. He has only surrendered one extra-base hit since May 29 (17.0ip) and five total (4 2B, 1 HR) in 42.1 innings for the Tribe. With runners on base and two outs, opponents are just 3-for-32 (.094) against him. He has inherited 17 baserunners and only one has scored. Anderson's seven walks in 42.1 IP is also good the second-lowest walk-per-9.0 IP ratio in the IL at 1.49.

FELIZ GETS THE WIN: RHP Michael Feliz was optioned by Pittsburgh on Friday and joined the Tribe roster last night. He made his Indians debut in the eighth inning and served up a two-out homer to Yandy Diaz, but the Tribe's ninth-inning rally set him up for the win. He then pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth.

BY THE NUMBERS - 2.01: Clay Holmes has been lights out since the beginning of June. The right-hander owns a 2.01 ERA in nine starts between Pittsburgh (2), Indy (6) and High-A Bradenton (1), allowing just 12 ER in 53.2 innings combined. During that stretch, he has walked just 12 total batters (2.0 BB per 9.0 IP) while striking out 57 (9.6 K per 9.0 IP).
