Clippers Complete Comeback, Walk off Indianapolis in 12th

The Columbus Clippers used two late comebacks to walk off the Indianapolis Indians tonight at Huntington Park, evening the series at one game apiece.
After Indy brushed off a ninth inning Clippers rally to score four in the top of the tenth, the Clippers did the same in the home half before winning it in the 12th.
With the 10-9 win the Clippers cut the Indians' lead in the International League West to two and one-half games.
Indianapolis took a 2-0 lead in the second inning thanks to a no-doubt solo homerun from Kevin Kramer and an RBI single from Kevin Newman, but Columbus slowly started a comeback, as would be the theme all night.
Mike Papi launched his sixth homerun of the season, a solo blast over the right field wall to put the Clippers on the board in the bottom of the second, and down 2-1, they tied things up in the fourth when Connor Marabell singled Papi in off Indians' starter Clay Holmes to make it 2-2.
Holmes locked things down after that, finishing his day with seven strikeouts in five innings. He allowed just the two runs on three walks and seven hits.
The Indians regained the lead in the fifth with a Jason Martin two-run moonshot to right, and added insurance on a Kramer RBI single to make it 5-2.
The Clippers showed life in the eighth, though, as Adam Rosales lines a double into the left field corner, scoring Yu Chang to pull within 5-3.
They continued the comeback in the bottom of the ninth when Drew Maggi led off with a double and was scored by Yandy Diaz on a double of his own, making it 5-4. Then, in a two-strike count with two outs, Papi dribbled a ball to first, but beat it out to score Diaz, tying the game at 5-5.
The Indians struck again in the tenth to take a 6-5 lead. With two on, Kramer lined a ball off the glove of the diving third baseman Chang to score Jacob Stallings. After that, Wyatt Mathisen doubled in two more to extend the lead to 8-5. Jerrick Suiter then singled in one more to add more insurance at 9-5.
The Clippers came back again in the bottom of the tenth, first with an Eric Stamets RBI groundout. After that it was Diaz with an RBI single and Eric Haase with a two-run double to tie things at 9-9.
Brandon Barnes won it for the Clippers in the 12th, driving in Stamets, who was bunted to third by Maggi, with a groundout.
The teams will conclude the series at 7:05 p.m. tomorrow at Huntington Park.
