Today's Game

This evening, the Bisons take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the second game of a five-game in four-day series. The two teams will play a double header on Wednesday as part of a postponement from June 24. Following the series, Buffalo will head to PNC Field for a weekend series against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Rail Riders before an off-day on Monday. The Herd's second-last homestand will take place August 7-12 against the Gwinnett Stripers and the Toledo Mud Hens.

Last Game: BUF 0, LHV 2

LHP Thomas Pannone allowed a first inning two-run home run, and that was all the offense the IronPigs would need in their shutout win. Pannone allowed a total of two hits and three walks while striking out six in the loss. C Danny Jansen collected two of the Herd's five hits.

Lehigh Valley (3-11)

The Bisons have won the season series against Lehigh Valley five times in the franchise's 11-year history. The "Pigs have won the season series three years in a row, including this season. Prior to last night's loss, the Bisons had never lost more than 10 games in a single year to Lehigh Valley. Buffalo's last season series win was in 2015 (10-8). Overall, Buffalo is 5-5-1 in the 11 season series with the IronPigs.

Today's Starter: RHP Nick Tepesch

RHP Nick Tepesch is making his eighth start and tenth overall appearance for the Bisons tonight. Tepesch notched his first win at Triple-A in 2018 in his last start on 7/26 at Louisville. The righty tossed seven innings for the Herd, giving up three hits and two runs (one earned) with no walks and two strikeouts.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. makes Bisons debut

3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been activated and joins the Bisons roster after 61 games with New Hampshire (AA). Guerrero Jr. hit .402 for the Fisher Cats, amassing 94H, 14HR, 60RBI to earn a selection on the Eastern League All-Star Game. The third baseman had a hit in each of the seven games with the Fisher Cats after coming off of the Disabled List in July. The top prospect in baseball also had stints in the Gulf Coast League and with Dunedin this year as well.

Jonathan Davis

OF Jonathan Davis had a hit in the first inning on Monday. Davis has hit safely in 13 of the 17 games he has played since being promoted to the Bisons. Davis has had a seven-game hitting streak with Buffalo (11-28, .429) from 7/17-7/26.

Transactions

Prior to Monday night's contest, the Blue Jays activated RHP Marco Estrada from his MLB rehab assignment with Buffalo. The Jays also traded RHP Roberto Osuna, who pitched in three games for the Herd, to Houston.

Bisons Bits

The Herd was shutout for the 10th time of the season on Monday. Lehigh Valley has shut out the Bisons five times this season, including last night. Buffalo has four shutout victories of their own in 2018, the last time coming on 6/19 in game one of a double header at Pawtucket.

Blue Jays Update

Toronto's (48-57) opened up their three-game series against the Oakland Athletics with a 10-1 loss on Monday night. RHP Marco Estrada was activated off of the Disabled List and lasted four innings in defeat. The Blue Jays scored their lone run in the top of the ninth inning on an INF Aledmys Diaz home run. RHP Sam Gaviglio takes the hill for game two of the series between the Jays and A's tonight (10:05 p.m.). Toronto will then close out the road trip with four games at Seattle Thursday through Sunday.
