Title Fight

Tonight marks the first of three meetings between the top two clubs in the U.S. Division before the end of the season. Trailing by just five points, Portland remains within striking distance of Everett, but head-to-head wins will be critical.

The Winterhawks can enter tonight with confidence having recorded four straight victories over the Silvertips dating back to a 7-1 romp on Dec. 5, but both teams enter this evening's tilt on three-game winning streaks. The playoffs may not start until later in April, but with so much on the line, you can bet the intensity is going to be at a postseason level tonight.

Grab your popcorn, Hawks fans, this one's gonna be good!

High Score

Hockey is sometimes described as a "race to three" - the first team to score three goals usually has a leg up on winning the game. That's held mostly true for Portland, which has tallied three or more in 12 straight contests dating back to Feb. 20 and boasts a 10-2-0-0 record in that span. Conversely, the Hawks have also limited opponents to two or fewer goals in eight of those 12 tilts.

With a high-octane offense and stingy defense, Portland is in a good spot to continue picking up points. But they'll want to keep testing their skills against playoff-quality competition like Everett and Seattle, and the prep for the postseason continues tonight.
