Tri-City and Spokane will meet tonight for the 13th and final time this season. The Americans have won 4 of their 12 previous games against the Chiefs, including a 6-3 victory last Saturday in Spokane.
The Chiefs' Bear Hughes leads head-to-head scoring with 8 goals and 11 assists against the Americans. For Tri-City, Parker Bell has 6 goals and 4 assists while Sam Huo has 4 goals and 6 assists against the Chiefs.
Both teams are battling for the final Western Conference playoff spot. The Chiefs are currently tied at 43 points with the Prince George Cougars for 8th and 9th place. The Americans are sitting at 10th with 39 total points.
The Americans made their final trip this season to Portland last night as they fell to the Winterhawks 7-1.
Portland started out hot as they put up four goals in the first period. Tri-City trailed 6-0 before they were able to break through with a goal 8:11 into the second period with a goal from Ethan Ernst. Nick Avakyan played the first two periods in net for the Americans. The rookie netminder turned aside 20 of 27 shots faced before being relieved in net by Tomas Suchanek for the third period. Suchanek went on to stop all 14 shots in the final frame.
