Chiefs Drop 12th Straight to Everett, 7-2

Everett, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs lost to the Everett Silvertips for a 12th game in a row on Friday night, 7-2.

The Silvertips got on the board first just over halfway through the second period when Hunter Campbell netted his 21st goal of the season.

This was soon followed up with an unassisted goal for Olen Zellweger at 15:23 in the first period to give the Silvertips a 2-0 advantage heading into the first intermission.

Everett was quick to extend their lead in the second period, scoring a power play goal just 16 seconds into the frame (Michal Gut).

The Chiefs answered at 3:26 when Washington Capitals prospect Bear Hughes found the twine for his 22nd goal of the year, with help from Mac Gross and Kooper Gizowski.

The rest of the middle frame was all Silvertips, as they piled on two more goals (Niko Huuhtanen, 9:49 and Alex Swetlikoff, 15:32) to extend their lead to 5-1 going into the final period.

Everett continued to rack up the goals in the third period, with rookie Huuhtanen scoring his second goal of the game just one minute into play followed by another power play goal to complete the hat trick at 4:16 and bring the score to 7-1, Silvertips.

Rookie defenseman Timafey Kovgoreniya slapped in his third goal of the year from the top left at 7:05 in the third to cap the scoring at 7-2.

Cooper Michaluk got the start in net for Spokane, stopping 23-of-28 shots faced through two periods. Manny Panghli came in for the third period and turned aside 18-of-20 Everett shots. On the other side of the ice, Koen MacInnes stopped 13-of-15 Chiefs shots.

Spokane went 0-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-6 on the penalty kill.

Up next, the Chiefs will head back east to take on the rival Tri-City Americans on Saturday night in Kennewick.
